Day 1: TENNESSEE / KENTUCKY / MARION, IN:   Historic Mackinac Island is always spectacular regardless of the season! What better time than now to visit Mackinac and spend the night at the fabulous Grand Hotel? Today, we cross Tennessee and Kentucky enroute to our overnight stay in Marion, IN.

Day 2: LUNCH @ DAS DUTCHMAN ESSENHAUS / INDIANA AMISH TOUR / SHOPPING / HOLLAND, MI:   By noon, we’re in Middlebury, the heart of Amish country. A tasty home-style meal at the Das Dutchman Essenhaus is included. Our local guide will take us on a tour of Amish country, stopping to shop in Shipshewana, a shopper’s paradise. We continue to Holland, MI. (L)
Day 3: DEKLOMP WOODEN SHOE & DELFWARE FACTORY / WINDMILL ISLAND / TOUR OF HOLLAND / CADILLAC, MI   At the De Klomp Wooden Shoe and Delftware Factory, we watch as craftsmen carve wooden shoes by hand and by machine. Then we are off to Windmill Island, an unusual park with a canal, a working drawbridge, miniature Dutch Village, and a 1780’s working windmill. After a guided tour of the area, we browse the quaint shops in downtown Holland. Overnight Cadillac, MI.

Day 4: MACKINAC CITY / COLONIAL MICHILIMACKINAC / HISTORIC MILL CREEK / COOKOUT ON THE BEACH / ST. IGNACE, MI:   We arrive in Mackinac City mid-morning. After a tour of Fort Michilimackinac, built in 1715 to control the straits of Mackinac, we’ll have time for lunch and shopping before our tour of Historic Mill Creek. We cross the “Big Mac” Bridge, a 100 million-dollar structure completed in 1957. The 8,344 feet between cable anchorages make it one of the world’s largest suspension bridges. What fun tonight as we relax and enjoy a cookout on the beach! (D)

Day 5: FERRY BOAT TO MACKINAC ISLAND / HORSE & CARRIAGE ISLAND TOUR / GRAND HOTEL / DINNER:   The leisure ferry ride allows a view of the massive Mackinac Bridge before arriving on Mackinac Island. We will be lost “somewhere in time” as our horse-drawn carriage takes us on a tour of the island. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy this beautifully quaint island. Ladies will dress in their Sunday best while gentlemen don their sport coats and ties for our dinner at the Grand. The buffet is world famous and the Grand is magnificent. Tonight’s lodging will be at the Grand Hotel. (D)

Day 6: “GRAND” BREAKFAST / FERRY BOAT TO MAINLAND / LAKESHORE DRIVE / HISTORIC STAFFORDS PERRY HOTEL / DINNER / LEISURE TIME / PETOSKEY, MI:   After a full breakfast at the Grand, we follow Lakeshore Drive and the Tunnel of Trees, on one of the most scenic drives in all of Michigan to Petoskey. After checking into our historic hotel overlooking Little Traverse Bay, we have time to browse the unique shops in the Gaslight District. Dinner will be in the elegant Stafford’s Perry Hotel this evening. (B,D)
Day 7: FRANKENMUTH, MI / BRONNER’S CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND / TROY, MI:   We continue to Frankenmuth, a Bavarian fairytale-style village! After shopping at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas store, there will be leisure time to enjoy the many shops and restaurants in this quaint village. We continue to the Troy area. (B)
Day 8: DEARBORN, MI / HENRY FORD MUSEUM & GREENFIELD VILLAGE / DAYTON, OH:   This morning, we tour the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. This world-renowned museum and village preserves a panorama of American life of days gone by. We overnight in the Dayton area.
Day 9: FAREWELL LUNCH / HOME:   Mid-way home, we stop for our Farewell Lunch and take time to reminisce about our journey through the different times and cultures of Mackinac Island. (L)
